Event Decor Winners
“Best of 2009″
International Special Event Society / Arizona
Ken and I are so honored that the Arizona Events Industry awarded Show Stoppers the “Zonie” for “Best Event Decor 2009.” The award was presented at the annual I.S.E.S. awards dinner which was held at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale Arizona on May 13th.
Show Stoppers won the accolades by transforming the cavernous Pavilion at the Scottsdale Princess into a Las Vegas night club for 800 guests. The project was brought to the attention of I.S.E.S. by Deb Beggs of Tri-Rentals in Phoenix. You may SEE THE TIME LAPSE VIDEO HERE :

We were approached by Benfield Inc. to design a cool Las Vegas style night club for a group of 800 guests at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort. The challenge was to transform a cavernous 8000 sq. foot space into an electric environment to complement a concert by Earth Wind and Fire. Hardly any flowers were used except for one large design above the bar. Show Stoppers designed this event from the carpet up. I thought I would put this on our blog because so many people think all we do is flowers. We do it all! Click on the photos ( especially the one below ) to get the full effect.

I designed elevated V.I.P. areas with groupings of white leather furniture that broke up the space and provided great views of the band. Ruby red glass cubes with candles and red and black pillows finished the look.
We ordered special retro style gobos that added lovely patterns and textures of light to the carpet and furniture.
A colonnade of 16 palm trees that were 15ft. tall greeted guests as they entered. Yards upon yards of billowing white voile fabric was draped and back lit in ruby red to give energy to the room.

Sedona has several artists with national reputations. One of our very favorites is Andrea Carusetta-Blaut. Her company, Sedona Cake Couture, raises the bar for every cake artist in Arizona. You simply have to see all the wonderful cakes she has created on her web site, Sedonacakecouture.com.
Andrea has created cakes for our most special brides, themed cakes for our themed events and incredible deserts for us personally. They have always been stunning works of art. She never ceases to amaze us with her abilities. Not only are her cakes real show stoppers in every sense of the word but they taste out of this world.
Professionally trained as an artist, Andrea studied under world class French pastry chef, Andre Renard. She has appeared on the Food Network Challenge twice. Both times she walked away with a silver metal and is going for the gold next time. Her innovative designs have won her top awards at the 2007 and 2008 N.A.C.E. competitions for cake artists. Celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Kirsty Alley and John Travolta have placed their orders and raved about her work.
I particularly enjoy working with Andrea because of her willingness to collaborate and work with us as a team when planning one of our themed events. It doesn’t matter if we want a Zebra cake crowned with proteas, a Rock n’ Roll cake with guitars and musical notes or a Moroccan temple balanced on the backs of camels, Andrea makes sure we and our clients are pleased beyond words.
We absolutely loved the Moroccan cake she recently made for one of our globe-trotting brides who had her Sedona wedding at L’Auberge. Ken found some interesting hand-carved antique Moroccan wood blocks used for printing textiles. We purchased them and took them straight to Andrea. We thought it would be wonderful if she could use them to print the fondant and then hand-paint the stamp to look like Moroccan tile. Andrea ran with it and designed a cake beyond our wildest dreams. If you want the best, you are talking Sedona Cake Couture. Andrea provides cakes for wedding in Sedona or Scottsdale. Thank you Andrea for making such beautiful creations for us. Let’s Eat!
